      Dear Prospective Applicant,

Welcome and thank you for your interest in graduate programs in the Old Dominion University. This preapplication form will be used to advise you whether you should formally apply for admission to graduate programs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. (If you're looking for information on undergraduate programs, please visit our undergraduate degree programs page)

Once you submit this preapplication form on-line, you will receive a letter informing you about our recommendation. There is no fee for this preapplication, and the purpose of this procedure is to save you time and money if you do not have a reasonably good chance for admission to our program.

Although we may recommend that you apply for graduate admission, there is no assurance that you will be offered admission or financial aid. Please answer all questions on the form being as specific as possible -- it helps.

FYI, detailed information on the Old Dominion University's Admission Procedures, Guideline, etc. is also available on-line.

Forms for admission may be obtained from the Office of Admissions of Old Dominion University for domestic applicants (forms are downloadable through the internet), and from the Office of International Admissions for international applicants (forms are downloadable through the internet). Forms could be also obtained via regular mail from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Office.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gary C. Schafran
Professor and Chairman
